The 110-year-old Ole Rømer Observatory, part of the Science Museums, is being renovated in order to restore the building to its original appearance. At the same time, the beautiful area around the observatory is transformed into a Science Park where visitors and school classes can experience natural science in the daytime as well as in the darkness under the starry sky. Furthermore, the Ole Rømer Observatory is going to be accessible to everybody.
Now the foundations Salling Fondene and Nordea-fonden as well as Aarhus Municipality support the visionary Aarhus project with DKK 5 million. Previously, the foundations Aage og Johanne Louis-Hansens Fond and Realdania have supported the beautiful observatory with DKK 8.5 million. Moreover, Aarhus University backs the project with DKK 3.5 million. This means that the restauration and development of the Ole Rømer Observatory as a new science platform in Aarhus have been fully funded.
