PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Getting here

The Ole Rømer Observatory is located in the beautiful area of Kongelunden in Aarhus, close to the racecourse and Marselisborg Palace.

By bus

Bus number 17 stops on Carl Nielsens Vej by the racecourse. Please check midttrafik.dk for bus routes and timetables.

By car

You can park in the large outdoor car park belonging to the racecourse. The car park is located on the left side of Observatorievejen immediately after entering the road. The parking spaces right by the observatory are reserved for disabled parking.

By bike

There is a bike rack at the observatory where you can easily park your bike.

Accessibility

The newly restored observatory is fully accessible for everyone. A ramp allows access to the building's foyer and learning space, and a lift provides access to the dome and telescope. The building also houses accessible toilet facilities.

Accessible parking spaces are available at the observatory. A visible and valid Blue Badge is necessary to use these spaces. Carers who are on duty have free access to the observatory's educational offerings. Just let us know that a carer will participate at sm@au.dk or 87 15 54 15.

Dogs

Guide and assistance dogs are welcome inside the Ole Rømer Observatory. Pets do not have access to the observatory.

Food and drink

You can buy coffee, tea, or cocoa from the vending machine, but it is not possible to buy or bring food.

Attire

Remember warm clothing if you're attending a star presentation in clear weather. It gets cold rather quickly when we open the dome to observe the stars.

If it's cloudy, we still conduct the presentation. Instead of looking at the night sky, we explore the nooks and crannies of the observatory while telling astronomy stories about life in the universe, current space journeys, or the observatory's history. We also show beautiful images from the large space telescopes.

Photos

You're welcome to film and take pictures at the Ole Rømer Observatory for private use, as long as you follow staff instructions.

For press photos for editorial coverage of the Ole Rømer Observatory, contact Trine Bjerre Mikkelsen at tbm@sm.au.dk.

You can also find press images here. Note that the photos may only be used for editorial coverage unless otherwise agreed upon.

Private events

It is not possible to hold private events, such as baptisms, birthdays, confirmations, or weddings, at the Ole Rømer Observatory.
