Blue ginger
Blue ginger originates from Brazil and is not related to true ginger — despite the name.
Blue ginger is grown in tropical gardens because of its beautiful flowers. However, although the flowers look beautiful, they do not contain any nectar. The pollinating insects are only rewarded with pollen.
Blue ginger belongs to the same family as the spiderworts and dayflowers, which both can be grown outdoors in Danish gardens.
