Indian clock vine is a commonly grown ornamental plant in the tropics, as well as in greenhouses in the rest of the world. It is popular because of the beautiful, large yellow and red flowers.

Indian clock vine has the scientific name Thunbergia. It is named after the Swedish physican and botanist Carl Peter Thunberg. Thunberg lived from 1743 to 1828 and was professor of medicine and botany at the university of Uppsala in Sweden.
