Opening hours for the Botanical Garden

The Botanical Garden is open day and night all year round. Entry by car from Langelandsgade and up Peter Holms Vej. By foot you can access the park by several footpaths from the city and Ringgaden.

Opening hours for the Greenhouses

  • 1 October to 30 April: Monday-Friday 9.00-16.00
  • 1 May to 30 September: Monday-Friday 9.00-17.00 
  • Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays 10.00-17.00.

The café is open 10.00-17.00. Last order an half hour before closing time.  


Entry to the Greenhouses is free for everyone.

Guided tours

We offer guided tours through the Greenhouses weekdays within opening hours, weekends at 10.00-11.00 and 16.00-17.00. Guided tours outside of opening hours are possible at an extra charge. Read more: Book a guided tour

Our School Service has developed activities for schools, kindergartens and students.

Fee for cancellation later than three weekdays before the visit: 500 DKK.

Getting here

The Botanical Garden and the Greenhouses are situated in the heart of Aarhus, only a 10-minute walk from the Cathedral.

By bus: Routes 2A, 3A and 5A all stop along the Botanical Garden. You can find alternative routes and timetables at

By car: Free parking available for cars and busses in the midst of the Botanical Garden via Peter Holms Vej. Remember to set the parking disc.

By foot: It is possible to access the garden by several different footpaths from the city and Ringgaden.

Accessibility for wheel chairs

Parking spaces for disabled persons are located close to the main entrance of the Greenhouses.

In the Greenhouses wide paths provide easy access for wheelchairs.

Please note that the paths in the Botanical Garden can be steep in some places. The park contains both graveled and paved paths.

Groups and private arrangements

We kindly ask large groups planning a visit to the Greenhouses to notify us in advance. Please call our booking on +45 87 15 54 15 Tuesday-Friday 10.00-14.00.

It is not possible to have larger, private arrangements in the Greenhouses, e.g. weddings, bachelor parties or birthdays.

Photos and video

You are welcome to film and take pictures in the Greenhouses with ordinary handheld equipment. Tripods and further equipment are not allowed, and it is important that you comply with staff instructions.

It is important to contact us in advance if you want to film or take pictures for other purposes than private, e.g. press photos, photos for school papers etc.

Commercial filming and photography as well as use of extra equipment are only possible for payment. Fees depend on crew size and time consumption. Book a photo shoot at +45 87 15 54 15.

Places to eat

Our café serves traditional food with a twist. Here you can enjoy your lunch or something sweet in our cosy surroundings.

It is also possible to borrow games, books and magazines in the café.

You can enjoy your packed lunch in the picnic area on the 1st floor or on the benches in the patio.


The Greenhouses and the patio are non-smoking areas.


Dogs and other pets are not permitted in the Greenhouses. You can tie your dog by the water bowls close to the entrance. NB Assistance dogs are allowed inside the Greenhouses.


There is a cloakroom behind the café. No fee, but storage at your own risk.

Self-service lockers can be found next to the cloakroom, deposit 10 DKK.
