Blue jacaranda
Blooms beautifully in spring and is commonly seen along roads and in parks across Southern Europe.
Blue jacaranda is frequently cultivated in the tropics because of its splendid blue blossoms. The tree grows best where there is a pronounced dry season in winter. In the dry season it sheds its leaves and when the rain returns in spring, it is completely covered with blue flowers.
One can see blue jacaranda planted along roads and in parks in southern Europe. You can also keep it on the terrace during summer in Denmark, as it is fairly cold-tolerant. However, it should be brought indoors before the first frost.
The tree in the Tropical House have not flowered yet – maybe it will next spring!
