Kumquat
- the golden orange
The name Kumquat comes from Chinese and means ”golden orange”.
The kumquat resembles an orange but is much smaller, like the size of a large olive. It is eaten fresh, with the peel on. The fruit contains large amounts of pectin, making it suitable for compote, jam and jelly.
The kumquat plant is a common houseplant and can be purchased in many supermarkets and garden centers. It is often sold under various names such as mini orange, indoor orange or dwarf orange.
